Chocolate Banana Bread
A deliciously moist and decant Chocolate Banana Bread without being loaded with refined sugar.
Banana Bread is a favourite for many and it’s so easy to do well. It’s also a great way to use up those sad old bananas sitting in your fruit bowl.
For families, what I love about it is:
You can bake with staple pantry ingredients
You can play with flavours to suit your little one’s taste preferences
You can increase the nutrients with whole food ingredients
You can freeze it making it perfect for lunch boxes
What makes this Chocolate Banana Bread Healthy
Pick up a slice of banana bread at your local cafe or convenience store and I can almost guarantee it’s loaded with sugars and refined flours.
What makes this Chocolate Banana Bread a healthy alternative is that it uses quality wholefood ingredients.
We use rolled oats and buckwheat flour instead of refined white flour.
We don’t add refined sugar to sweeten the bread and instead rely on the bananas for the sweet hit.
We’ve added hemp and flax seeds to increase the nutrient content
As you can see, you and your kiddos can enjoy this Chocolate Banana Bread without feeling guilty! But rest assured, your kids won’t taste the difference and will be asking for more!
To make this healthy Chocolate Banana Bread, preheat the oven to 180°C and line a loaf tin with baking paper.
Place all of the ingredients, excluding the chocolate pieces and coconut flakes, into a food processor. Blitz until combined - you may need to scrape down the sides midway through to ensure the mixture is nice and smooth.
Pour the mixture into your loaf tin giving it a little shake to ensure it is evenly spread. Sprinkle on top the chocolate pieces and coconut flakes.
Place in the oven and bake for 50 minutes. To avoid the coconut burning, loosely place a piece of foil on top about 30 minutes in.
Allow the Chocolate Banana Bread to cool in the tin for approximately 5 minutes before placing on a cooling rack. Slice into individual pieces and enjoy!
We like to serve this still warm while the chocolate topping is still melted. Yum!
Keep in the freezer perfect for lunches or afternoon snacks.
